Policy at a glance
Air India Wheelchair service
Use this Air India assistance guide to request the right mobility support, describe personal equipment and prepare for airport, boarding and onboard handling.
Request
Request wheelchair assistance at least 48 hours before departure — during booking, at ticket issuance, on reconfirmation, or through the booking office.
At airport
Airport staff assist with embarkation, disembarkation and getting to your seat; let them know if you need help to the aircraft steps, entrance or seat specifically.
Onboard/equipment
Battery-powered wheelchairs need a completed Battery Powered Wheelchair form 48 hours ahead (300 Wh single-battery limit, 160 Wh each for dual-battery); passengers with critical medical needs (e.g., oxygen) need Air India medical clearance via the MEDIF form.
